In addition, of concern argon arguments and techniques employed by pharmaceutical companies to advance or discredit biosimilars, as well as issues with post-marketing surveillance programs and their limitations. The issues associated with introduction of biosimilar medicines across a range of pharmacologic indications are controversial, as well as differences between biopharmaceutical fruits not subjected to regulatory approval and regulatory approved medicines. There are rapid changes in licensing of biosimilars and regulatory approval. Non-transparent promotion of biosimilar products gives clinicians a need to be wary. Hopefully, widespread availability of biopharmaceutical products will be provided by biosimilar medicines (Roger, 2010). ... The manufacture of a biopharmaceutical involves several isolation and purification steps, and the product is complex. In terms of safety and efficacy of the product, even minor changes in production can have serious implications, and these procedures are proprietary to the manufacturer of the causation product. Existing and future regulation should prevent inappropriate and automatic substitution of a biosimilar for a reference biopharmaceutical product, and biosimilars should not be brought to market using the same(p) procedure applied to generics (Misra A, 2010). Living systems or organisms are used to produce biological products, medicines, and therapeutic agents. Because of their expensive cost, access to these life-saving biological products is limited. In the next few years, patents on the early biological products will soon expire. This will allow other biotech/biopharmaceu tical companies to manufacture the generic versions of the biological products, which are referred to as biosimilar medicinal products by the European Medicine Agency of the European Union, or as follow-on biological products by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Increase in patients access to the much-needed biological pharmaceuticals by competition of cost-effective follow-on biological products with equivalent efficacy and safety can cut down the costs. Evaluation of equivalence (similarity) between the biosimilar products and their corresponding innovator product is a great challenge for both the scientific community and regulatory agencies due to the complexity and heterogeneity of the molecular structure, complicated manufacturing process, different analytical methods, and scuttle of severe

What do you think the likelihood of success will be for President Essay

What do you think the likelihood of success will be for President Obama to apparatus the remaining items of his agenda - Essay warningCongress members from both fronts of the political divide all have an input in what is to be implemented and what is not. They exercise their power through voting for or against any policy. For any of these items to be implemented, a majority of the Senate members must vote for the item through persuasion and lobbying. The likelihood of President Obama to implement the items of his agenda that ar yet to be done is high. The fulfillment of items in his agenda led to the recent up-surge in his approval ratings.President Reagan is an excellent example of a electric chair who was able to push his agenda forward despite all odds. His changes especially in the budget and tax reforms cannot go unnoticed.2 Reagan was successful in his bid to implement his agenda because he possessed the self discipline and clarity required to control the agenda. His strate gy was to take on an issue a time sooner than to have a full plate that neither he nor congress could handle at a time.President Jimmy Carter, on the other hand, was relatively unsuccessful. This was because the challenge of being president was simply overwhelming. He did not prioritize his agenda laying emphasis on the most urgent ones and lacked enthusiasm. He alternatively took on everything at a go, and this portrayed him as a man who had no concrete plan for the nation. His style of handling business did not come upon Congress

The businesses have developed and they are turning from local to global marketing, most of the business ventures are forced to put in place a frame work of operation that embraces accountability and global recognition otherwise they would greatly degrade their technique. There are many miniature organisations that have come together to fight for fare trade that would ensure corporate responsibility. Galbraith argues that as the society becomes more affluent, the trends in economic theory should as well change towards generating consumer demand artificially. Business ventures have to advertise so as to create that need in their customers an d produce commercial goods and services this has brought about scorn to the public sector (Galbraith & Galbraith 2007). Galbraith asserts that with the wealth around, many people for example Americans may tend to purchase luxurious items while their backyard was polluted and their children attended poorly managed schools. He also argues that the presence of the market alone would under supply or totally fails to provide for a lot of consumer goods to the general public while private commodities would be characteristically over provided due to the advertising process which effectively creates an artificial demand above the individuals fundamental requirements. Galbraith advocates for regulated consumption of certain products by imposing greater consumption taxes with grounds that would be a better form of taxation compared to labour and land taxes. Legislating the corporate responsibility to happen the expectations of multi-national democracy. These regulations need the interventi on of bodies like European Union, national governments and other non-governmental organisations. The increasing wreak of TNCs on the global market is posing a threat to whatever governments and small businesses and hence it should be tamed to attain global responsibility (Galbraith & Galbraith 2007).TNC Power and GlobalizationMost of the trans-national corporations have resulted in abuse of human rights (in monetary value of salaries and goods) since they have attained sudden domination and unexplained powers over the policy-making and economic scene. The need for decentralized power and the complicated relationship of the regulation and influence that is typical for todays economy pose a challenge to the accountability and responsibility of advertisements and the safeguarding of the human rights (Galbraith & Galbraith 2007). Globalization is the major motivation factor to the emergence of the trans-national corporations and multinational business ventures as the major players i n the international stage. Public budgeting holds a critical place in decision making processes because it is directly associated with the well-being of citizens. It is one of the main responsibilities of any government to allocate resources among competing public celestial sphere needs in such a way that none of the sectors faces shortage of funds in any particular stage. Public budgeting includes analysis of the needs of all public sectors and allocation of financial resources in accordance with the analysis report. It is obvious that if one program is overfunded, some other public assistance program testament definitely bear the costs. It is the job the government to decide which sector should be given more space in the public budget and which sector should be at stake. Given the nature of the public budgeting process, governments usually encounter difficulty in making decisions regarding starting of new programs and eliminating existing programs. They involve to decide on these issue based on financial analysis of the current economic position of the country. In America, it is the responsibility of executives, legislators, as well as judiciary to concur a check and balance on the public budgeting process. In the Federal government system, the congress enacts the budgets, whereas the president is held responsible for providing the guidelines for the preparation and submission of the budget. Public budgeting provides government officials the information about current financial position of the economy by detailing the capital in hand, as well as predicted future expenditures related to current and ongoing business processes . Proper financial analysis also helps governments cut off the extra costs and utilize the available capital for other public service activities. Governments need to plan business and public wellness activities according to their financial budgets. If a government does not pay attention towards managing financial activities, problems can occur which may delay the planned activities (Lynch, 1991). These scholars, however did not denounce or slump Christianity, but this cultural shift and the quest for knowledge did brought about a change in the way religion was approached by the intellectuals and was evident in umpteen areas of their cultural life.Shakespeares Richard III and Christopher Marlowes The Jew of Malta and Dr Faus tus, all three of which were widely popular and yet severely criticized mainly beca utilization of its content and candid use of language, and study them in the light of Renaissance an era of immense exploration and questioning of ideas and well established philosophies.Although there exist many views regarding the exact take care of the Renaissance period in history, for the purpose of this essay, the period between 14th to 17th centuries is considered as the Renaissance Era. In England, the Elizabethan era marked the line of descent of the Renaissance Era, with the works of such writers as William Shakespeare, Christopher Marlowe, John Milton and Edmund Spenser. Agitation in long term care setting Research Paper

Agitation in long term c are setting - Research Paper ExampleAgitation is cardinal of the most critical issues in the long term care nursing homes across the world. Residents of such homes, due to a number of reasons, experience changes in their behavioural patterns involving upheaval, distress and aggressiveness The second reason revolves around the resident nurse dealing with stir up patients involves surviving verbal and sometimes physical abuse from the patients, which impacts negatively on nurse motivation and productivity (Zeller et al. 2009). According to the Nursing Times (2011), majority of nurses are not well prepared/trained to handle disturbance. The boilers suit impact is a threat to the quality of wellnesscare, hence underpinning the importance of the issue of fervour in the resident care setting. Background According to Zwicker and Fletcher (2009), agitated demeanour in conditions such as dementia represents feelings and needs that are difficult to adequately ve rbalize. In frequent occasions, agitation is a result of an inability to channel needs by the long term care patient in an unpleasant environment or due to physical discomfort (Rabinowitz et al., 2005). Statistics indicate that agitation is a serious problem, with above 50% of patients in a community dwelling and above 70% of residents in nursing homes experiencing the condition. The most common manifestations of agitated behavior include physical agitation such as pacing, nervousness and repetitive movements, and verbal agitation such as complaining, using abusive talking to and screaming (Zwicker and Fletcher, 2009). ... Whereas this may cause discomfort in healthy individuals, the situation is worse among residents in nursing homes due to their underlying conditions, making it difficult for them to communicate. aridness is another leading cause of agitation, with Erockson and Grove (2008) observing that Alzheimers patients may experience weight loss even with proper nutrition. Such patients may pay back abnormally high activity levels. Another important cause of agitation is the fear and disorientation among the residents in the long term care settings. For instance, dementia patients are often afraid while Alzheimers patients cannot recall the staff, facility, other patients and even themselves (DETP, 2001 Zieber et al., 2005). Medical causes of agitation as well exist as most mental health patients may experience abrupt onset of delirium. Such cases may be due to infections such as urinary tract infections, pneumonia and colcystitis among others (Gerdner, Buckwalter and Hall, 2005). The external environment also plays a crucial part in triggering agitation in the long term care setting. Here, the nurse takes a central position in influencing triggers of agitation either positively or negatively. Changes in medication, creating an impersonal environment and certain aspects of care cause the patients to be agitated. Failure to adequately deal with the internal determinants of agitation also contri exceptes to the condition (Erickson and Grove, 2008). Effects on Nurses Nurses in the long term care settings not only have to manage the causes and impacts of agitation on the patients, but also impacts on themselves. First, such patients can fall under the

Traffic rage, similar to road rage brings in frustration, tension and all sorts of problems that the motorists commonly face in such a situation.Traffic rage is essentially linked with the problem that a person is going through while he is unable to swear his temper and anger in the wake of knowing that the vehicles behind him and in front of him are stuck in the same quagmire and he cannot do anything about it. This non-control of emotions and feelings and making them public in a physical or verbal sense is a direct example of what traffic rage can literally be like. An important positionor here is to understa nd that the traffic rage does not lay courtesy the vehicle under header or objects that leads to it in the first place, rather it is due to the state of affairs of the person who undertakes the act of traffic rage which quintessentially governs the whole state of mind that he is in, forced or unforced. Furthermore, it also accounts to the persons non-understanding nature and lack of thinking and eventually acting ability which leads him to flow with the emotions and feelings that he just fails to control the same and thus end up in problems at a later stage. On a more personal note, my traffic rage stems from the fact that I was getting late for work on that particular morning and there was just so much traffic that I knew for sure that I would end up being late at the office. I just could not make myself to understand the situation at hand and kept on continuing criticizing the governments and law enforcement agencies state of affairs. Course, Cause and Treatment of Bi-Polar disorder Research Paper

Course, Cause and Treatment of Bi-Polar disorder - Research Paper ExampleCourse, Cause and Treatment of Bi-Polar disorderThe symptoms that characterize the manic incident include elevated mood, hyperactivity that involves high levels of energy, lack of self control, flight of thoughts and grandiosity. During this stage the individual may have an inflated self-esteem and the individual becomes over-involved in activities particularly, over-indulgence in sexual activity and promiscuity that can be seriously detrimental for the individuals personal health and well-being.The individual may also pull in involved in new(prenominal) kinds of reckless behavior such as binge eating, drug abuse, impaired hindsight or judgment and may even rat excessively. Due to lack of self-control, the individual exhibits an irritable mood and is prone to lash out at other people in other words, they lose their irritation quite often that causes them to behave in a manner that has heavy and often debili tating consequences. They experience inability to concentrate on their work, as a result are easily distracted and may even have little or no need for sleep at all. On the other hand, the depressive phase has symptoms that are exactly the opposite of the manic phase and the symptoms are similar to that experienced by the sufferers of Major depressive disorder. The symptoms experienced during the depressive stage are scummy mood, anhedonia which is complete lack of interest in activities that were previously found pleasurable, difficulty concentrating, faces problems in remembering things and indecisiveness. The individual faces gross psychomotor retardation as his movements slows down, he or she may feel tired all the time and loses his or her self-esteem. The phase is characterized by crying spells, persistent sadness, negative thoughts which are usually rough death and suicidal ideation. (Moore & Jefferson, 2004) The individuals social life is hampered as well and begins avoidin g social situation. The individual experiences increased and often displaced amount of guilt on with feelings of worthlessness and dejection. The individual may either lose weight due to lack of appetite however, in some cases the individual may indulge in binge eating and may gain excessive amount of weight that may result in obesity if the depression is not treated in time. The individual has sleep disturbances and like the eating disorder, he or she may either experience insomnia or hypersomnia that is the individual either sleeps too little or excessively. Either way, individuals are likely to commit suicide during the depressive and during the manic phase, they can do serious damage to their health by abusing drugs and alcohol or humoring in unsafe sexual activity. (Moore & Jefferson, 2004) The individual may experience these symptoms simultaneously or even these can overlap each other resulting in a state that is often called the mixed state. Throughout the course of the dis order, the individual may also have a phase, which is ruler and may experience normal level of mood. However, before making the diagnosis that an individual suffers from bi-polar disorder, clinicians must rule the following disorders.

-High school graduates should take a year off (a gap year) before entering university - show ExampleThis makes them appreciate cultural diversity, and as a result, they are able to interact with other students from different cultural backgrounds (Griffith 220)b) Some of the students get a destiny to travel to other foreign places which provides them an opportunity to intoxicate different cultures that are different from their own. The travelling also offers a chance to earn funds and learn new languages.3. a) It provides an opportunity to save specie. In this economic crisis, the steep-school graduates engage in income-generating activities that provide m wizy to pay college tuition and offset other expenses (White 54).b) The students save money in the form of having a clear objective in what courses to take in college. This enables them to avoid four or more years of wasted money and time spent on aimless drifting from one course to another.4. a) The gap year increases the cha nce of a student admission to college of choice. The break-off year gives one a chance to take part in other extra-curricular activities that give leverage to ones admission chances. During college admissions, a lot of factors are considered besides the students score and teacher recommendation (White 53).b) The factors may include volunteering for a cause or organization, or learning of a foreign language, for example, for two student applicants with high students score and appropriate recommendations from the teachers, the one with extra experience in matters non academic stands a high chance of being admitted compared to his counterpart.III evidence As I conclude, it is evident that the year gap does more good than harm to a high-school graduate. Students with the experience of a year gap bring a different aspect to classes. Majority of the students who wipe out taken a year gap, are of the opinion, that they learned more during the one year compared to the total time they have spent in a college class.

Enzyme catalysis lab Essay Example for Free

Enzyme catalysis lab EssayEnzyme catalysis was observed in b exclusively club to analyze how changes in temperature, pH, enzyme concentration, and subst vagabond concentration affected an enzyme-catalyzed reaction. This experiment analyzed the rate of enzyme-catalyzed reactions and observed the correlation between catalase activity and products formed. It was found out that the rate of an enzyme-catalyzed reaction starts off rapidly, decreases, and levels off or completely stops, and can be further affected by environmental factors, which play a crucial fibre in regulating enzymes and metabolic processes.Based on this experiment and the selective information collected one is able to conclude that the optimal environment in which this detail catalase is able to function is around 40C and in a pH around 7. This type of environment altogetherows the enzyme to function at its fullest potential and stimulate the maximum amount of product allotted by the implemented amount of s ubstrate present without the hindrance of environmental factors.IntroductionBackground Enzymes, most of which are proteins, have two interrelated roles. One is to act as catalysts and accelerate spontaneous biochemical reactions so they occur with sufficient rates at prevail temperatures. The other is to determine which spontaneous biochemical reactions leave be accelerated out of many more than possibilities present in the cell. Balance between all the reactions in metabolism is achieved in several ways, by fluctuations in substrate concentrations, by local differences in pH, by changes in enzyme concentration, and by changes in enzyme energizingPurpose Enzyme activity is influenced by many factors both temperature and pH at which enzymes functions are extremely important. Most organisms have a preferred temperature and pH affirm in which they survive, and their enzymes usually function best within very narrow temperature and pH ranges. If the environment of the enzyme is too acidic, basic, or hot, the activity of the enzyme may be adapted due to a change in the three-dimensional shape of theenzyme. Denaturation, the unraveling or structural changes of an enzyme, may be temporary or permanent depending on the full point of the environmental change. In either case, a denatured enzyme no longer has the shape necessary to interact with the substrate effectively to lower the activation energy.Hypotheses1. The guess is as the temperature increases, above 40 C, the activity of the enzyme catalyst will increase. 2. The hypothesis for the enzyme activity with the effect of the pH is if the pH is not at the optimum pH value there will be a complete loss of enzyme activity. 3. The hypothesis is as the change in enzyme concentration increases the activity rate of the enzyme will increase if there is a proportional amount of enzyme concentration and substrate. 4. The hypothesis is as the substrate concentration has an increase so will the reaction of speed if the amount of enzyme is kept constant.MaterialsMaterials can be found on page 65 in the Bio 110 lab manual. Procedures are found on pages 65 to 68 in the Bio 110 lab manual.DiscussionA. In table 5.1, the info that was collected was calibrating the colorimeter. The results should have been 0.000 or 0.001 no matter how long the gondola was ran for.B. In table and graph 5.2, the data collected was in a time frame of 0-5minuites and was recorded every 30 seconds. In the cuvette was distilled piddle and substrate mix. The data collected showed that the longer the experiment ran for the higher the absorbency rate.C. In table and graph 5.4, the data that was collected was for three different amounts of enzymes x enzyme, 1x enzyme, and 2x enzyme. The hypothesis for this experiment was the more enzyme the faster the absorbance. With the results from the test the hypothesis is true. The 1/2x enzyme was absorbed less and a lot slower then the 2x enzyme.D. In table and graph 5.6, the data colle cted was the effect of the amount of substrate effects on the absorbency. The data was collected every 6 seconds for 60 seconds. With x substrate the absorbance was the slowest. At 1x substrate the absorbance was the fast, and at 2x substrate the absorbance was in the middle.E. In table and graph 5.8, the data collected was to see how the effects of temperature played an effect on the absorbency. Ice water (4c) the absorbance rate was very slow. Room temperature (22c) was the normal rate of absorbance. Body temperature (37c) had the highest absorbance rate, and boiling water (100c) the protein was denatured giving no results.F. In table and graph 5.10, the data collected was to see how the effect of pH affects the absorbance. With the pH2 no reaction happened because pH2 is not a good match, pH7 had the highest absorbance. Ph10 was denatured, pH5 was absorbed only if slowly and, pH8 was as well as absorbed but was absorbed the slowest.G. In table and graph 5.12 we added an inhibit or to see what the effects would be. With the inhibitor added the absorbance rate slow but did increase.Literature CitedVital Health, Inc. Introduces a Digestive Enzyme for Children, MyZymes. SFGate. N.p., 23 Oct. 2012. This helps the body fetch nutrients from food and plays an essential role in facilitating absorption. They are a highly effective digestive enzyme product because it contains a higher activity level of protease, amylase, lipase, cellulose and also includes six other enzymes. The higher activity levels assists in digesting more proteins, fats, carbohydrates and case. Enzymes are one of the most essential elements in our body. Enzymes are energized protein molecules found in all living cells. They catalyze and regulate all biochemical reactions that occur within our body. Enzymes also play a part in digestion. They break down proteins, fats, carbohydrates and fiber making it possible to utilize the nutrients found in those foods while removing the toxins. Digestive enzyme supplements help you digest your meals more efficiently and deliver the nutrients from your food to your body. The supplemental digestive enzymes will break down food, thus saving the body from having to release as many of its own enzymes. This allows the body to devote its attention to supplying more metabolic enzymes so the organs and tissues can carry on their daily work. Enzyme supplements are clinically proven to reduce the effects of bloating, gas, fooling heartburn and occasional acid reflux.

The emancipation proclamation Essay Example for Free

The independence contract EssayThe emancipation proclamation was an historic moment in the report of the unite States. It did non only come at a time when the country was universe faced by thraldom problems but also at the time when the country was at the height of its bloodiest civil state of war. The emancipation proclamation was issued by the US president Abraham capital of Nebraska and consisted of twain different executive orders. The executive orders were issued by the president as the commander-in-chief of the United States army and navy, were meant to free slaves and end slavery altogether. The first executive order was issued in September 22, 1862 and was to free slaves from the give of states chthonic confederate states of America that had not joined the Union by January 1, 1863. The second one was made in January 1, 1863 and was more specific as it utter the states where the order would apply (Christopher 56). Abraham Lincoln was born in February 12, 1809 a nd raised in Kentucky. He married his wife Mary Todd in 1842 and together bore quartet sons, but unfortunately only one of his sons (Robert) survived childhood (Thomas Burlingame, 56).The United States 16th president had a little formal education and is said to have been self-educated. He nevertheless became a lawyer and joined Republican Party as a politician which helped him assume presidency in 1860. During his term in office, the southerly states pulled out of the Union citing that president Lincoln and the northerners did not approve of slavery. President Lincoln faced a lot of challenges during the five year periods he served as the president. First, a war broke out between the southerners and the northerners six weeks into his presidency. In what was to later become a bloodiest American civil war, the states in spite of appearance the Union fought the states under the partnership for five days. In a tactically move to win the war president Lincoln issued the emancipation proclamation in September 22, 1862 which needed the states outside the Union to free all slaves. The second one in January of the following was the most effective as it saw a number of slaves being released. He succumbed to assassins bullet in 1865 just a year after being re-elected the United States president (Thomas Burlingame, 102).Abraham Lincoln was highly regarded as a great humanity rights defender as was illustrated by his Gettysburg Address in November 1863. In this short speech he called on Americans to ensure human freedom if it has to survive as a nation. His legacy has been defined in the history book as the man who freed millions from slavery and changed the course of that atrocious act. The emancipation proclamation that was issued twice in a span of less than six months was a well orchestrated plan to have slavery abolished in the United States. The first proclamation prepared the way for the second one.Into the second year of the American civil war, Lincoln issu ed the second executive order barring slavery in the Confederate states (Crowther, 55). This was more specific as it not only stated the intended states wanted to stop slavery but also gave a time frame of a hundred days from January 1, 1863. Ten southern states South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina, Louisiana, Florida, Texas, Alabama, Virginia, Mississippi and Arkansas were mentioned in this second order. The states of Kentucky, Delaware, Maryland and minute that practiced slavery were not include in the order because they were under the Union.Exemption was also extended to the Tennessee state which was neither under the union nor the confederation and the numerous counties that had joined the Union before January 1, 1863 (Crowther, 56). Implementation was very swift as the Union commanders stationed in the marked states helped to enforce the proclamation (Christopher 67). Although, the immediate tinct of the second executive order is not well documented, it is believed that s everal slaves were freed immediately by many states especially in the regions that were occupied by the Union forces. These states included North Carolina, Virginia, Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, Alabama and South Carolina. Regions inwardly those states that were under the Union occupancy released most slaves upon the emancipation proclamation (Poulter, 48). During the entire period of emancipation, no violent acts were inform between the masters and the ex-slaves (Crowther, 76). However, the proclamation changed the course of the American civil war. There was a big shift in the sign objectives of the war prompted by the northerners. From the initial aims of uniting the two regions, a new agenda was born. It must be noted that Abraham Lincolns aim at first, was to use emancipation proclamation to force the Confederate states to join the Union. He exempted states that practiced slavery and were within the Union but ordered those under the Confederacy to end slavery in the ir states. This informed the opinion that the objectives of the emancipation proclamation was to help the Union win the civil war (Klingaman, 234).Although, unprecedented at the beginning, the proclamation set the stage for the abolitionists to iron out for abolition of slavery in America. Thus a new agenda was born to fight for human freedom in the United States. The proclamation did not escape political debates at the time. Most democrats, who were opposed to the civil war and supported the secession as well as slavery in the south, jilted the emancipation proclamation. It was so much politicized that in the 1862 elections, it became an issue in the campaigns, which saw the democrats up their numbers in the house by 28.The other democrats, who bought into the Lincolns objectives of the war, backed off and did not support the emancipation decree. President Lincoln saw the political opposition increasing by the day and therefore use the Gettysburg Address to indirectly refer to hi s proclamation and abolition of slavery as a new war objective by using his famous enunciate a new birth of freedom. This endeared him towards the pro-abolitionists within his republican party that helped his re-nomination in the 1864 elections (Berlin, 260).The emancipation proclamation twist in the American civil war changed the foreign opinions about the war. The Great Britain involvement in the war had brought it diplomatic tension with the United States. At first, before the proclamation, United Kingdom had favored the Confederacys quest to secede especially when it provided the southerners with the British-made warships. But the northerners were strongly determined to win the war at all costs and the Trent Affair of 1861 only worse the situation between the two countries (Klingaman, 234). The emancipation proclamation then changed everything. The British were forced to reconsider their support for confederacy because such a support would be viewed as a support for slavery, a practice they had long abolished. The confederacys case for secession never received much sympathy thereafter and the Union cause was salvaged. Many international leaders hailed Lincolns decisive and bold steps in fulfilling the dreams of American forefathers. Proclamation therefore came at the right time as the initial tension between the United States and European nations was eased and the union conduct in the war was never scrutinized as their cause was now favored (Christopher 54).Towards the end of the war, the pro-abolition groups got concerned that the proclamation would never be recognized after the war as people would consider it as a decree made for the war according to Berlin (260) they also desired to see the freedom of all slaves in America not only those within the Confederacy but also those within the Union states. These prompted them to pressed Lincoln to seek a constitutional amendment that would secure freedom for all slaves. In his 1864 presidential campaigns, Lin coln was forced to pledge a constitutional amendment that would abolish slavery in the entire United States. His campaigns were boasted by separate abolition laws passed by two different states Maryland and Missouri in 1864. After being re-elected, Lincoln hurriedly forced the 38th congress to amend the constitution as truehearted as possible and January 1865 was the historic moment for all slaves in America. The congress passed to the state lawmakers for ratification the 13th amendment, barring any form of slavery within the borders and territories of the United States. After being ratified in December 1865, the law took effect after twelve days.It is estimated that about 40,000 slaves and 1,000 slaves were released immediately in Kentucky and Delaware respectively (Christopher, 58). Although some have consistently criticized Lincoln as a white supremacist who only made the decree after being pressed by the abolitionists who wanted racial reforms, his legacy will forever remain i n the memory of all American races. He took a bold step not only to gibbet the Union from disintegration but also secured the freedom of the slaves. His belief in human freedom and goodwill to see his dreams through saw the end of heinous act that is slavery at a time when there was tension everywhere. He achieved a lot within a span of five years considering the opposition he faced from all corners of the country and even internationally. He simply won two wars with Emancipation Proclamation. Some of the common guide overseas telegrams that unders eye all of them are mentioned belowA professional restrainer in general has a moral responsibility to enhance and nourish the duty goals of his or her clients. The professional code of ethics as per the CCAB bodies does non in any way allow a professional accountant to hinder from fulfilling the duties. An accountant would always indispensableness to act in the best interest of his or her clients. thither might lots of instances in cod course of time which will test the ethicality and the moral obligation of an accountant. But caution must be exercised in that much(prenominal) ethical dilemmas are carefully analysed and due decision is taken which will protect the interest of the client as well the professionalism as an accountant. This is very classic given the fast paced and money minded nature of todays business world. There are many another(prenominal) professional bodies which protects the interest of such professionals and acts in the interest of the profession (Gendron et al., 2006).Let us analyse the ethical dilemmas that arises in the shimmy of Case Study 3 Conflicting Clients interests. The case analysis is presented as mentioned in the framework A Strategy for Understanding, Developin g and Presenting Moral Arguments (Icaew.com., 2015).Moral Issue in the CaseThe case deals with a sole practitioner providing accountancy services for a client who is in to the business of exchange hardware products for electrical services. Some of the services that the accountant provides are preparing annual account statements, tax compliance and also currently the client has asked to provide due diligence for the purpose of procure of another small hardware business. The accountant is also a continuity provider for another accountant who is also a sole practitioner, as he is not able to carry divulge the work because of medical reasons. One of the clients of the accountant who is ill is also planning to purchase the same small hardware business that the client of the accountant is intending to purchase. The new client is well known of the fact there is also another bidder for the business but is unaware of the fact the accountant who is involved is also performing due diligence for the competitor. Here comes the ethical dilemma in the case. The accountant wants to cooperate the new client and provide value service on behalf of the accountant whom he is providing service to the client. At the same time, the accountant also realises the fact that he is supposed to maintain the confidentiality of knowledge as per the agreement with his regular client (Icaew.com., 2015).The moral issue in the case mainly focuses on three core principles of professional ethics as followsThe accountant should be straight forward and honest. But at the same time, how can he ensure that he does not use the confidential breeding of one company when he is performing due diligence for the other. By doing so, he should ensure that he protects his reputation as an accountant and at the same time safeguard the reputation of his profession (Icaew.com., 2015). It is common for corporates today to have their code of conduct. On similar lines, it is also clamant for professional organi zations to possess professional code of conduct. It provides statements pertaining to ethical values and also reminds workers that behaviour which is ethical is a critical part of the job. There are many organizations for professionals in their individual professions to register with them and maintain their code of conduct in their disciplines. For example, for computer professionals, the main professional organizations are ACM, IEEE computer society. These organizations jointly evolved the Software engineering science Code of Ethics and Professional Ethics. They underline the basic values like honesty and fairness (Lee, 1995).Possible Solutions to the CaseHere in the case, it is very rattling to understand that the accountant has responsibility for the practitioner on account of whom he is providing continuity services. He cannot let him down for his own good. It may be delusive that partnership A may perform well out of the synergy that the company gets by acquiring as they a re in the same line of business. However, this information is to be kept confidential by the accountant and not to be disclosed to company B. Doing so will violate the confidentiality clause which the accountant has signed with Company A. The accountant also has to comply with the professional code of ethics as an accountant and must act true to his profession because report being very critical information for a company (Icaew.com., 2015).The main parties touched in this case are that of the accountant himself, Company A and its promoters, Company B and its promoters, the target business which both A and B intend to acquire. The practitioner for whom the accountant is providing the continuity services will also be affected in this process. In an attempt to arrive at the solution to the case, none of the affected parties should be involved because an attempt to involve any of the above parties in itself will erupt the clause of confidentiality. Hence, the accountant on his own disc retion should come up with the possible course of action. It may be considered that the practitioner on behalf of whom the accountant is acting as a continuity service provider may be taken in to account if the accountant feels the need for such a moral obligation (Icaew.com., 2015).The accountant should not disclose any kind of confidential information gained during the due diligence process to the directors of the company B. Also, the information should not be used which will give an undue advantage to Company B. The complication results from the fact the accountant has to work on behalf of the practitioner for whom he is providing the continuity services. The conflict can be avoided by declaring openly to the director of Company B. Even in this case, caution must be exercised in that what information to be disclosed and what not to be shared with the client. Also, the threat if any to confidentiality principle should be evaluated between the devil clients. It is highly vulnerabl e to go for a decision which will give the company B that the accountant will do justice to both the companies and hence such a situation should be avoided under any circumstances. Hence, care should be taken such that which will ensure that the conflict of interest between both the companies A and B should be declared and stated explicitly (Icaew.com., 2015).Key considerations and JudgementsIt should be clearly mentioned that it would be impossible to act on behalf of the company B for carrying out the due diligence. There is always a moral responsibility towards the previous client and hence any violation arising out by servicing to the company B should be stated well in advance to the director of Company B so that he may exercise caution in the process. Such a disclosure should be well documented and maintained in case of any future discrepancies that may arise. There may occur a check off when the accountant may be forced to disclose the name of the other bidder. In such a situ ation, the name of the bidder should not be disclosed to each of the parties. This will only ensure that the threat of confidentiality is safeguarded. This is one of the last options to resort to as this situation to as such a situation arising is very serious (Anderson-Gough et al., 2000). This is very important, the accountant is still in a moral obligation to provide services to the company B as the accountant is acting on behalf of the practitioner who is ill and unable to provide services to the company B. The practitioner can also be kept informed if it is deemed possible (Icaew.com., 2015).Under any circumstances, it is advised that detailed steps are well documented which will ensure that any future discrepancies are well protected and no breach of confidentiality arises in any situation. Hence the accountant is expected to clearly maintain the records of all the due diligence documents which he can refer to at later point of time in case of any complaints from any of the concerned or intended parties (Anderson-Gough et al., 2000).ConclusionFrom the above case, it can be seen that the issue of ethics is highly critical and severely impact the lives of people. Hence, professionals are expected to be highly ethical in their roles and understand the implications that arise of their immoral behaviour. It is also important that the organizations also encourage this ethical behaviour in their employees and promote this professionalism as a culture in their company. There are many organizations for professionals in their respective professions to register with them and maintain their code of conduct in their disciplines. Organizations should provide training programs to their employees on the severity of this aspect and also create awareness to the potential risks arising out of this (Lee, 1995). There are several other cases which highlight the different aspects of ethical behaviour. Professionals face the ethical dilemma in their day-to-day jobs and it is very important that ethics is never compromised. This will benefit them personally, the organization for which they work and also the society at large.ReferencesAnderson-Gough, F., Grey, C., Robson, K. (2000).
